There is no easy solution but I think maintaining a culture where the students take responsibility for their education will help. Standards Based Grading seems conducive to this and beneficial all around.
The Arts Councils brought in local celebrity guest bartenders including the Mayor of Weed, Dave Pearce, local musician Banjo Billy, Lauri Sturdivant (executive Director of the Siskiyou Arts Council), and Randy Lawerence from College of the Siskiyous in Weed. The tips raised during their time bartending went towards supporting the arts.
Med Grow Cannabis College is not only taking in college students and teaching them to grow marijuana, but is also getting them licences to grow marijuana. The college allows you to be a caregiver or a patient. At the time, there are more caregivers than patients. Being a caregiver gives you the opportunity to grow up to 6 plants in one household. Only three being in the flowering stage. In order to be a caregiver, a patient would have to hire you to grow the marijuana. Also you can have no felony convictions.
